Our Services

At St Anthony's we provide a range of services including Home Care, Housing with Care, Day Care and The Garden Project. Here you can find more information about all of our services.

Day Care

The Day Service is open 5 days a week Monday to Friday from 9.00am – 4.30 pm and is based at our Community Centre on Welbeck Road in Walker. We have been commissioned by both Newcastle and North Tyneside Councils for many years and we also have many service users who attend privately.

The Day service is led by our Day Care Manager, and she leads a team of highly trained, experienced and committed support staff, and a group of dedicated local volunteers.

We offer a wide range of activities to suit individual interests. We also provide, where required, personal care. Activities include music, arts and crafts, drama, games, entertainment, exercise sessions and outings. We also offer other services such as hairdressing, aromatherapy, podiatry and nail care, and we have regular visits and talks from, for example, health professionals, the fire service and public safety.

Our Kitchen Manager and her team provide marvellous home cooked meals including breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. We can also provide snacks to take home. We currently have a “5 Star Very Good” rating for Food Hygiene from Newcastle City Council which is the highest that can be awarded.

Our rates are reviewed annually by the Trustees and are kept in line with Council rates. The individual daily rate will vary dependent on whether transport to and from the centre is required and whether food is pre-paid or purchased daily.

You are very welcome to join us for a free taster day where we can show you around the centre and introduce you to staff, volunteers and current service users or alternatively Claire our Day Care Manager is happy to visit you at your home.

The Garden Project

The Garden Project is for people over 50 who live in Walker and the East of Newcastle.  In 2020 we successfully applied for funding to landscape the old Presbytery garden on our site.   This meant the garden became accessible to people unsteady on their feet and for those using wheelchairs.  The Kellet Fund has supported the project, funding activites and the gardener, Iona Heaton.

The project is for people who want to get out and about more to enjoy the outdoors and socializing.  We support people to take part in gardening, the arts, trips and social events.  People bring along their own ideas and we enjoy sharing what we do through a quarterly zine.    We have a couple of volunteers who bring their gardening skills and banter.
